How does a 9-second pass at 130 mph (209 km/h) sound? Sure, these numbers may not impress anybody when talking about custom-built rides, but what if we told you they were achieved on two wheels, in a hippie mobile, driven by a man in his 70s?
Meet 72-year-old Richard Hutchins and his... Chevrolet Rebellion. Sure, right now you may be wondering what a 1973 VW Pickup (the blue collar sibling of the VW Bus) has to do with the Chevy brand? Well, this is an all-custom build and the muscle comes from a Chevrolet V8.

The 427 cubic inch (7-liter) vee eight relies on a supercharger, as well as on methanol to deliver enough power to keep this working class hero on two wheels throughout the entire length of the quarter mile run and sometimes even beyond that.

The Rebellion is a crowd pleaser and has been touring drag strips for quite a while now and we have to explain its massive wheelstands are not its only party trick. For instance, it can also spit massive flames up its vertical pipes, while the growl of that V8 is enough to fill the entire strip.

We’ve added two pieces of footage below, one showing the pass we mentioned in the intro and the other offering a closer look at the truck and its driver. The delicious soundtrack is on the house.
