VW Scirocco R and Golf R Launched in the UK

Volkswagen launched the Scirocco R and the Golf R earlier this year but the two models have finally arrived in the United Kingdom and are now available for order. Developed by Volkswagen Individual, prices for Scirocco R start at £26,945 on-the-road and £28,930 for the Golf R. Both models are powered by a 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder engine which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard. Thanks to this configuration, the Scirocco R develops 265 PS and 258 lb-ft of torque while the Golf R outputs 270 PS and the same amount of torque. Additionally, customers can order a six-speed DSG gearbox for an extra 1,300 pounds. The Scirocco R and the Golf R are the most powerful and fastest accelerating derivatives of the base models, the German manufacturer said in a release. The Scirocco R sprints from 0 to 62 mph in 6 seconds (5.8 seconds when equipped with a DSG gearbox) and achieves a combined figure of 34.9 mpg (35.3 for DSG) and 189 g/km of CO2 (187 for DSG). The Golf R on the other hand reaches 62 mph in 5.7 seconds (5.5 seconds if it comes with DSG) and returns 33.2 mpg on the combined cycle (DSG 33.6 mpg) and CO2 emissions of 199 g/km (195g DSG). The two models are limited to a maximum speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Here is the complete pricing list for both the Scirocco R and Golf R in the UK: Scirocco R
