Volkswagen is scheduled to give us the seventh generation of the Golf this year, with the car set to arrive at the Paris Motor Show, but this doesn’t mean that the current incarnation of the car is registering poor sales.
In fact, the Golf MK VI is doing great, with the vehicle topping the European sales chart for the forth consecutive year in 2011. The German compact managed to convince 2 percent less customers compared to 2010, but it still registered a total of 484,547 units sold.
Second place went to the VW Polo, which registered sales of 356,490 units, being followed by the Ford Fiesta, with 348,465 cars, the Opel. Vauxhall Corsa, which posted sales of 313,325 unit and the Renault Clio, which managed to register sales of 294,172 units.
We really hope that VW doesn’t rest on its laurels again with the Golf and will give us a proper change with the introduction of the seventh generation.
