When it comes to the Volkswagen Beetle, we can’t really say that we were expecting anything new but the guys from Volkswagen had a different thought. So, they decided on announcing a new concept car, the updated Beetle Dune, which comes with a very sporty look and that Buggy heritage everybody associates with the Bug.
Yes, Beetle fans will be able to see a reinterpretation of the car, this time having a tougher look. It seems that its design resembles that of a crossover, with numerous details pointing in this direction such as modified bumpers and side sills that feature protective plates.

The Dune also comes with some awesome chunky wheels over a new set of rims making it look bulkier, shedding a bit of its traditional cuteness. Moreover, the cabin certainly isn’t dull, as it sports vibrant yellow accents stylistically combined with the traditional black. If you think that sounds good there is a rumor that it might get a production version some time in 2015.

Well, even if this is true, it’s still the beginning of 2014 so we have a long way to go. Till then, one can check out the concept Beetle Dune at this year’s North American International Auto Show and see what they might be in for in 2015.

"The latest Beetle Dune concept also revisits an idea from January 2000, when Volkswagen showed the New Beetle Dune concept in Los Angeles.  But while that vehicle was far from a production possibility, the Beetle Dune is very much based on the current production model, using the same 210 PS turbocharged petrol engine and six-speed DSG gearbox, providing power to the front wheels," Volskwagen says.
