Need more power from your Scion FR-S? Well, forced induction is one of the best ways to achieve it.
Here you have two options - turbocharging or supercharging it. If you’re new to the whole auto technology, those are two different setups. The first one uses exhaust gases to drive the turbine and pack more air in the engine. The turbocharger is a bit different, as it uses the mechanical power straight from the crankshaft in order to rotate the turbine and ram air.
Most of you have probably seen a supercharger on hot-rods, muscle cars or dragster. Yes, it’s the huge finned box on top of the engine with a pulley at the front. But that is not the only type of supercharger.
If you chose one from Vortech, like the one on the sick Scion FR-S in the video bellow, you will be a little confused. It looks like half of a normal turbocharger but it’s propelled like a supercharger. Confused enough? Watch the video - it’s the big round part in front of the engine.
