Volvo May Miss Ambitious China Sales Goal for 2015

Despite being Chinese-owned nowadays, Volvo is apparently not doing so well in China. Having set a sales goal for 2015 of 200,000 per year, officials may have to reconsider the figure, as sales are below expectations. The 200,000 units sold in China, would be added to the brand’s 2020 worldwide sales target of 800,000 units per year.
Apparently, they will not be reaching the goal in 2015, but rather in 2020, setting all their plans back some five years. The main reason for the concern is the fact that Volvo only hopes to sell some 45,000 - 46,000 cars, which is less than the 47,000 they managed to sell last year in the PRC.

A way around this problem would be the construction of plants in China, which would build their cars cheaper and since they would be built within the country, they would be cheaper to buy, as well, and thus, more appealing to customers. Also, they may have to reorganize how the entire Chinese operation is run, so we may see some changes at the very top of their management ladder.
