Volvo Announces Hiring Campaign

Faced with what it hopes to be a sales growth of unprecedented proportions, Swedish manufacturer Volvo announced today that it is kicking off an extensive hiring campaign for the plants it operates in Sweden and Belgium. In all, Volvo needs 600 people to handle the increased demands and the product needs of the company.

Volvo will be hiring the 600 people throughout its major plants in the two countries: Gothenburg, Olofstrom, Skovde, Floby, and Ghent. This is the second major hiring announcement made by Volvo after the one in March, when it said it needs 1,000 people in Sweden, mainly engineers within Research & Development (900 engineers for Product Development and the rest required for the Ghent manufacturing plant in Belgium).

The new positions, separate from the ones announced two months ago, are dispersed throughout the Volvo factories as follows: 200 people at Volvo Cars Body Components in Olofstrom, 250 new employees for the plant in Torslanda, Gothenburg, 75 people for the Volvo Cars Engines plant in Skovde and the production site for brake discs and con rods in Floby, and 100 people for the Belgium facility.

Combined, the two hiring campaigns make up for one of Volvo's most aggressive recruiting campaign in years.

"We are currently selling everything we can produce of the Volvo XC60, V60 and S60. Now we have to further invest in order to meet the demand", said Stefan Jacoby, Volvo CEO.

"It is a great pleasure to be able to create employment for such a large number of people. This also shows the importance of the very dynamic automotive industry."
