Volkswagen announced that the application books for the 2010 Concours d'Elegance and Rallye Historique classic car events have been opened.
The two German vintage-vehicle events are part of the 2nd Annual Schloss Bensberg Classics held in the Bergisches Land ( North Rhine-Westphalia) from September 10 to September 12, 2010. The decision to create a second edition of the show was taken after the success registered last year, when the event was introduced. Although it was a new initiative in a field where tradition is a key asset, the project managed to be successful. Consequently, the German company plans to make the show an important event.
The main attraction of the show will be the Concours d'Elegance, which will take place on Sunday, September 12, and will include 40 historic vehicles (the newest one was produced in 1979). These will be presented and judged at Schloss Bensbers, in the proximity of Cologne. The judge panel will be led by the Head of the Volkswagen Group's design department, Walter de Silva.
The Rallye Historique, scheduled to be held one day earlier, will see 60 classic cars covering a 160 km course across the Bergisches Land. Teams who want to attend the Concours d’Elegance are required to pay 1,490 euro, while those who wish to compete in the Rallye Historique have to pay 1,290 euro. The attendance fees include a full service, offering two nights of accommodation and a complete catering service at the Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg.
Teams that wish to take part in the events can submit their applications until July 30, 2010.
