It seems the entire German automotive industry has realized Volkswagen's emissions scandal could hurt them. At the moment, only the sub-brands of the group are being affected, but it's only a matter of time before confidence in German engineering is shaken to pieces.
That's probably why the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG has agreed to give a rival company one of its key employees at the request of Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG, Hans Dieter Pötsch.

Daimler’s Christine Hohmann-Dennhardt, 65, was supposed to stay with Daimler until February 28, 2017. However, she will start working on the Dieselgate case as early as the beginning of 2016.

"We are delighted that Dr. Hohmann-Dennhardt has agreed to take on this responsible task and that we can build on her outstanding competence and experience," VW’s new chairman, Hans Dieter Poetsch said in the statement. “At the same time we would like to thank Daimler for agreeing to our request to the early termination of Dr. Hohmann-Dennhardt’s contract.”

Could Volkswagen and Daimler have turned a new leaf? It's surprising to see Daimler agreeing to give Volkswagen one of its key board members. The two automotive giants have been in a state of tension due to the constant poaching of key employees. Hohmann-Dennhardt joined Daimler in February 2011. Not only was she the first woman to become a board member but the number of seats was increased from six to seven especially for her.

Dr. Christine Hohmann-Dennhardt was born in Leipzig on April 30, 1950. She studied law in Tübingen and completed her studies with the second state examination in 1975. In the same year, she became a lecturer in social law at the University of Hamburg.

Other positions held:

• Hesse Minister of Justice, 1991

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
