Volkswagen is following sister brands Audi and Skoda's recipe, launching a crossover version of the Passat, called Alltrack. The vehicle, which will be slotted between the Passat Estate and the Tiguan crossover promises to mix light off-road capabilities with a generous interior space and good handling.
In addition to the the increased ride height, the Passat Alltrack also comes with with new front and rear fascias, as well as with plastic wheel arch protection elements.
The range of engines includes two turbocharged, direct-injected petrols, a 1.8-liter TSI that delivers 160 hp and a 2.0-liter TSI that produces 210 hp, as well as two turbodiesels - actually, we are talking about the 140 and 170 hp versions of the 2.0 TDI powerplant.
The two most powerful units come with 4MOTION all-wheels-drive and a dual-clutch transmission as standard, while the 140 hp TDI version can be ordered with the 4MOTION AWD system.
The Passat Alltrack is scheduled to make its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show and will arrive in showroom early next year. The vehicle isn’t expected to also be offered in the US.
