Volkswagen Golf GTI MK5 Becomes Extreme Virtual Ride

The Golf GTI is the car that started the whole hot hatch madness back in the 70s. Today, the Golf is in its’ sixth generation and while the GTI remains a stunning performer, it is no longer the king of the Gold hill, as VW has decided to release an R version. Yes, the previous generation Golfs also came with more powerful versions, but those used V6 engines, so they appealed to a different kind of customers - the Golf R comes with a beefed-up version of the GTI’s engine.

However, the GTI remains one of the best all-round hot hatches. Today, we’ve decided to show you what can happen if the vehicle receives an extreme tuning, but we’ve chosen to search for a project that uses the MKV GTI as a base.

This is because the fifth generation of the GTI is the one that revived the car’s spirit, which had faded away from the second to the fourth generation. So, let’s see what extreme means.

The artist (deviantart user Balu32) gifted the vehicle with a widebody kit, with the side modifications offering a muscular image. The front of the car comes with a striking appearance. Here, we’ll find a massive bumper that comes with an army of air intakes, carbon fiber side elements and LED daytime running lights. Let’s not forget the hood-mounted airscoop and the hood mechanism.

Other mods include a roof air intake, a generously-sized wing and a set of five-spoke lightweight alloy rims. As for the interior, this has received a racing-inspired treatment, being gifted with elements like bucket seats and a rollcage.
