Volkswagen is honoring the 40th anniversary of the Golf GTI this year, and the German brand will bring two unique models to the 2016 Worthersee meeting.
The first of them is the Golf GTI Heartbeat, a one-off model built by a team of apprentices from Volkswagen. The unique model comes with a contrasting color scheme, a 1,360-watt sound system, and a 400 HP engine.

Volkswagen's Golf GTI Heartbeat is a two-seater, and its foldable bucket seats have “40” embroidered on the headrest in crystal gray, marking the 40th anniversary since the launch of the first model. A honeycomb pattern of perforations is also present on the seats, and it features a red background.

The same trend is present on the door cards. Heartbeat symbols are also present on the interior trims. The interior package is supplemented by a set of seven speakers and a HIFI system with LED lighting and engraved glass covers.

The exterior of the one-off GTI Heartbeat features a high-gloss look, completed by a set of 20-inch BBS aluminum rims with exclusive paintwork. Volkswagen’s GTI Heartbeat project is the result of the work of a team made up of 12 people, all employed in the Volkswagen Vocational Training project.

Worthersee 2016 will also see another Volkswagen apprentice creation, based on the Golf R Variant. This model is built by trainees at the Volkswagen Zwickau plant. The “35” designation celebrates both the anniversary of the Worthersee meeting, and is also an indication of the model’s engine output, bumped to 350 HP through undisclosed modifications.

Compared to the standard Golf R Variant, the one-off show car has a multi-layer paintwork, applied by hand. Furthermore, the hood has two air vents, and the interior has matched the exterior color scheme.

Just like the GTI Heartbeat, this car also features an enhanced audio system, this time with a total of 12 speakers and a maximum output of 2,500 watts, without affecting cargo space. The latter also includes a “P 35” child’s run bike that matches the vehicle’s colors.
