The Brazilian driver told Brazil's Globo website that the car will be entirely black, with the drivers' helmets also featuring a black and silver livery. However, we'll only get to see Virgin Racing's new car midway through the month of February, as the team will miss the first test of the winter in Valencia.
“At the bottom (of the helmet) there are silver and black colours to match the car, which is all black, beautiful and a very nice design,” said Di Grassi, according to the aforementioned source.
Less than a month ago, the former team principal of Virgin Racing, Alex Tai, told the media that “We're the new red car on the block.” Consequently, everyone was expecting a couple of new Ferrari-like cars on the grid. Whether the change of livery for the 2010 season has something to do with a new sponsor, we're yet to find out.
The team is yet to announce the unveiling of their 2010 challenger, with the most likely date for that event being somewhere around mid-February. In the meantime, however, the British team already announced some staff changes prior to their maiden campaign in the series, with Manor Grand Prix founder John Booth replacing Tai as team principal of the team.
Virgin Racing is the second of the 4 newly entrant teams of the 2010 Formula One Championship to have confirmed both its drivers for the new season, in the persons of Lucas di Grassi and Timo Glock.
