Virgin Racing Stop Jerez Test Due to Lack of Spare Parts

As we've reported to you earlier today, the early action of today's testing at Jerez de la Frontera was halted at a certain point by the circuit's officials, because of debris on the track. Although it was initially believed that Red Bull's Mark Webber experienced some problems with his car and caused the red flag, it was later confirmed that the debris came from Timo Glock's VR-01.

The German driver had completed only 10 laps until the misfortunate incident happened. Yesterday morning, due to the fact that some car parts arrived late from the UK, the team had to miss the majority of the action at Jerez, Glock barely making the installation lap in the second part of the meeting. He went on to do only 5 laps all-together on Wednesday.

After today's incident however, the team decided to call it a day as far as Thursday's meeting is concerned. The official explanation for this decision is that the car is currently missing some spare parts which are expected to arrive later this evening. Consequently, the team is expected to rejoin the testing group first thing tomorrow morning.

This morning we experienced a front wing mounting problem which caused the wing to come off the car at the beginning of a run. Unfortunately, we're missing one or two spare parts which will hopefully arrive this evening, so we won't be able to run for the rest of the day,” said a statement from Virgin Racing.

In case the team does make it to tomorrow's test meeting, it is yet uncertain whether Virgin will choose to give Lucas di Grassi the VR-01 for the first time this winter, or change their initial schedule and continue the test with Glock (in order to collect useful information for the further development of the car).
