Virgin Racing Sit Off Morning Test at Jerez

Virgin Racing don't seem to have much luck testing their first ever Formula One single-seater these days, as the British team is likely to miss the entire morning session of the Jerez test on Friday due to a delay in preparing their VR-01.

While testing the new car on Thursday, Timo Glock only managed to complete 10 laps before his car experienced a front wing failure and had to enter the garage for repairs. The failure actually caused the first red flag of the Jerez meeting, due to debris coming from the VR-01. Following the incident, the team announced it won't resume testing on Thursday due to lack of spare parts.

A day before, during the first testing session of the week, Virgin Racing also delayed their debut due to lack of parts. Some components were supposed to be flied over sooner than it did (meaning the very night before the test) and Glock was eventually able to do only around 4 or 5 laps on the Spanish circuit.

The good news for Virgin Racing is that the spare parts – front wing related – have indeed been flied over in time, but the team will need to take some time to fit it to the VR-01. That means Brazilian driver Lucas di Grassi will have to wait until after lunch to get the first taste of driving the car.

The team will therefore miss out on the best part of the Friday testing, as the first few hours of today's actions are rain-free. The weather forecast suggested that a few showers will indeed make the Jerez region, but only after lunch.
