Vijay Mallya Plays Down Dissolution Allegations

Following the recent reports that Force India Mercedes might face dissolution as a result of failing to register its accounts with Companies House for 2008, the team's co-owner Vijay Mallys played down such a prospect and ensured the media that everything is under control at the Silverstone factory.

The Indian billionaire talked to Autosport earlier today and confirmed that the deadline for registering those accounts has already been extended for February 25, and that the team has every intention of setting the records straight prior to the beginning of the 2010 season opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

It is not unknown for companies to file their annual returns late the reasons for which are varied. Force India F1 Team has been in constant communication with Companies House and an extension to file was granted on 27 January 2010, with a grace period to 25 February 2010. This is a standard procedure and not uncommon in any industry,” said Mallya, according to the aforementioned source.

We are taking all the necessary steps to ensure filing is made on or before that date. Therefore Force India's participation within the F1 championship has not, and will not, be in jeopardy,” added the Indian businessman.

According to a representative from Companies House, this is not the first time Force India are delaying their registering early accounts, as previous situations such as these have happened in both 2006 and 2007. “If we don't receive any accounts in the next three months we are going to strike the company off,” added the Companies House official.
