On his way to winning his fourth Formula One world championship, German driver Sebastian Vettel is obviously one of the best drivers of the series. But to some, the 26-year-old is more than that.
For instance, Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner thinks the German is on par with racing legends such as Juan Manual Fangio, Jim Clark and Ayrton Senna. “For me, he is now on par with Juan Manuel Fangio, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost and Michael Schumacher,” said Horner, quoted by Spox.
But Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone takes it even further, claiming that Sebastian Vettel is even better than Ayrton Senna, a driver that tops most performance and popularity-based F1 hierarchies. “People don’t known how many titles Senna would have won, but Vettel is probably the best we’ve had.”
A bit ridiculous of the two to compare a 21st century driver to the likes of Fangio or Jimmy Clark, but we’ve seen this before in the Michael Schumacher era... You can share your opinions with us via the comment box below.
