Vettel Claims Pole Position in Turkish GP

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel will start this weekend’s Turkish GP from pole position, after beating both Brawn-Mercedes drivers, Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, who claimed the second and third place, respectively.

Vettel completed 17 laps and was fastest in both Q1 and Q2 with 1:27.330 and 1:27.016. Button on the other hand continued to challenge the pole position, with some voices even claiming the British driver will improve its Q1 time (1:27.355) and secure the pole in Saturday's qualifying session at Istanbul Park.

Team-mate Mark Webber arrived fourth, followed by Toyota’s Jarno Trulli clocked at 1:27.195 in Q2. Ferrari’s Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa will start the Sunday race from sixth and seventh respectively while Fernando Alonso, Nico Rosberg and Robert Kubica complete the top ten.

Lewis Hamilton (16th) was disappointing once again, with the British former champion failing to impress and lapping his McLaren in 1m 28.318s on hard-compound tires in Q1.
