Vettel Urges Red Bull to Up Game in Turkey

Considered one of the few drivers that could actually challenge the Brawn GP duo for race wins this season – having already won one, in China – Sebastian Vettel urged his team to respond to Brawn GP's successful form during the past few grands prix.

Of course, he might have left out the fact that his own performances during the last couple of races have not been that encouraging themselves, but the fact still remains that the BGP001s certainly behave better on the track. And, if Red Bull Racing will not respond quickly enough, Vettel might soon join the no-change-to-win-title-whatsoever pack of drivers for the remaining rounds of the 2009 season.

The German driver is now 28 points behind Button, while still in 3rd place in the overall classification. However, while the Brit scored 3 consecutive wins following Red Bull's winning weekend at Shanghai, Vettel only climbed the podium once, in Bahrain.

I know we have quite a big gap to the cars in front, and especially Jenson, if you look at the championship board. But we have to focus on ourselves. We have done a couple of mistakes in the last races and maybe put our money on the wrong strategy,” said Vettel, who also argued Turkey will be a turning point for RBR in the title race.

But we try our best to do everything right here. I think we have a very competitive car and we have some new bits which might not have helped us so much in Monaco but should help us here - and a car that generally likes fast corners as you have in Istanbul,” added the German driver.

Red Bull will use their double-decker diffuser for the second time running this season, only the feature is expected to work better this time, given the different characteristics of the Istanbul circuit (as compared to the Monaco track).

In Monaco it was very difficult to read if it was an improvement or not. I think our car will be feeling well on this circuit. But we have the whole weekend in front of us so we have to prove that,” added Vettel.
