If the Fiat 500 is too gray-haired for your taste and the newly-rebranded DS 3 from Citroen is just too French for your liking, what other vehicle is there to quench your need for chic urban dwelling? The Opel Adam S’ British brother is a candidate you should look forward to, especially when you find out that this little bugger is also a potent machine.
Previewed in 2014 wearing Opel and Vauxhall as well, the Adam Grand Slam is not a hardcore hot hatch as the name would lead you to suggest, but a warm hatch. Animated by a spirited 1.4-liter mill enhanced by a low-pressure turbocharger, this lil’ city car offers 150 PS and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque for you to play with anytime you fancy to wiggle that tail out.

The uprated chassis and those VXR performance division-grade brakes are there to keep in check the Vauxhall Adam Grand Slam, a city car that is able to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h). However, it also promises good fuel economy thanks to the manufacturer’s 47.8 mpg (5.9 l/100 km) combined rating and the 139 grams of CO2/km it produces.

Priced at £16,995, the direct competitor to Fiat’s Abarth 500 is adorned with distinct go-faster bits and bobs, including a lip spoiler, side sill moldings and an extended rear bumper cut-out with a bold exhaust tailpipe. A total of ten body paint choices and four further roof combinations are available with the Red 'n‘ Roll roof design. The distinctive rear spoiler above the rear window and special Adam logo on the C pillars complete the look.

As for the inside, the Vauxhall Adam Grand Slam can be equipped with various seat arrangements, three of which are exclusive to this model. Recaro Recaro Performance seats in Morrocana or nappa leather are available, while the optional leather package including black and red for the steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake or the red and white lighting for the instrument cluster.
