BMW just announced that for this year, we'll be seeing a lot of upgrades from our favorite manufacturer. As EU legislation tightens even more each year, the Bavarian company is constantly adapting.
A little over a year before the new EU6 emission standard comes into effect in September 2014, BMW is already prepared for it. Almost all its vehicles now comply with the EU6 standards and the rest will follow shortly.

The summer of 2013 will bring forth 5 new models that can be fitted with the xDrive system. The new cars that will be available with the all-wheel-drive system are the 118d xDrive (3 doors and 5 doors versions), the 318d Sedan and Touring models and the brand new top of the range 335d xDrive which will be powered by a 3-liter diesel engine with 313 HP. This new model will compete with Audi's new A4 that can be fitted with a 3-liter TDI unit that makes 272 HP, as we previously reported.

Launch Control will finally be available for 1 Series, 3 Series and 6 Series BMWs with the ZF 8-Speed automatic gearbox. This way, you'll be able to accelerate with optimized traction and maximum dynamics from a standstill. This function was previously only available for M models.

Furthermore, the ECO PRO Mode will have new functions that can be activated throughout the Driving Experience Control feature. This way, all 1 Series, 3 Series and 6 Series models equipped with the 8-speed automatic gearbox will have the new sailing feature that disconnects the drive train at cruising speeds between 50 and 160 km/h (30 to 100 mph). By doing so, the fuel efficiency will be maximized.

Last but not least, the ConnectedDrive system will be setting new standards for in-car intelligent networking, thanks to new features like the updated Driving Assistant and Driving Assistant Plus. These new safety features will warn you when a possible collision is detected and will ultimately activate the brakes when you're on a possible collision course. Furthermore, at speeds up to 210 km/h (131 mph), thanks to the Driving Assistant Plus system, the driver is able to delegate the Distance Control function to the car's onboard computers.
