The subtle design tweaks now hide a veritable monster under the skin – this is Porsche's most powerful series-production car in history – even eclipsing the 918 Spyder's 875 hp!
For the 2025 model year, Porsche has prepared something that will give Lucid and Tesla some headaches – the refresh of the Taycan series isn't big on styling changes, but the mechanical bits have been 'oiled and greased' quite extensively. As such, the Taycan Turbo S is now a proper rival for the Tesla Model S Plaid and Lucid Air Sapphire. But let us start from the beginning.

In America, Porsche keeps the dual body styles, sedan and Cross Turismo, each with four powertrain options, including RWD and AWD models – and the Taycan Cross Turismo even has an extra off-road package. Both feature visual improvements compared to the 2024 model year and also get more standard equipment and tech features, including the latest generation of the Porsche Driver Experience boasting "an improved display and control concept."

The 2025 Taycan is already available to order, and all the improvements bring a significant premium compared to the outgoing version – a base Taycan now costs $99,400 plus a $1,995 delivery, processing, and handling fee, so it's above the $100k threshold from the get-go. At the very top, its 2025 Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo is $176,300, and the 2025 Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo costs a whopping $211,700. Putting that into perspective, a Model S Plaid is 'just' $89,990, while the more powerful Lucid Air Sapphire costs $249, putting the Taycans firmly in the higher echelon of MSRPs.

For the money, the horsepower count on the base Taycan goes up by 60 kW (80 hp), bumping the RWD model to 482 horsepower. The rest of the range doesn't get exact specifications as Porsche then jumps directly to the Turbo S flagships, which boast an additional 140 kW (188 hp) when using Launch Control, so they jump to no less than 938 electric ponies – more than the 875 hp of the 918 Spyder hypercar. Even better, the Taycan models charge faster from now on, as 800-volt DC stations can give it up to 320 kW (+50 kW) and the 400-volt ones juice at up to 150 kW.

Additionally, the Performance Battery Plus now has a total capacity of 105 kWh instead of 93 kWh, lifting real-world range, according to Porsche, to 587 km (365 miles). Even so, the refreshed Taycan needs just 18 minutes to gain a 10 to 80% SoC (state of charge) under ideal conditions. Last but not least, there's also the optional new Porsche Active Ride suspension supplementing the standard air ride setup. The new powertrain includes a fresh rear-axle motor with up to 80 kW (107 hp) more power, a reworked pulse inverter with modified software, optimized thermal management, next-gen heat pump, plus modded energy recuperation and AWD strategies.
