UK: Toyota Solves 95 Percent of Recalls

The British would be very excited to find out that their roads have become a lot safer recently. According to the UK branch of Japanese manufacturer Toyota, it seems that no less than 95% of the recalls due to the faulty accelerator issues – intensively covered by the media approximately three months ago – have been resolved. Which probably means during the course of next month, all problematic Toyotas out there will be given the go ahead for road car use.

If you're wondering how many cars this percentage covers, know that approximately 170,000 Toyotas were subject to the recall in the UK.

Due to the media impact, non-Toyota customer considerations dropped but in June we saw that come back very strongly. We now have the same level of considerations as pre-recall. We have tackled the issue and have achieved 95% implementation - we take our responsibility very seriously” Toyota GB managing director Miguel Fonseca told just-auto.

Midway through April, the same division of Toyota had confirmed that it had resolved 80 percent of the recalls. Obviously, the company piggybacked on that success and is now close to start even in the country, but not without making sure that the relationship with their customers would not suffer as a consequence of the major recall.

Consequently, Fonseca added that every owner of a Toyota that was involved in the recall was contacted no less than 4 times by letter, while the regional dealer also kept in touch with the every customer in his area. Additionally, Toyota UK have recently launched a campaign called "My Toyota, Your Toyota," which will reportedly go ahead as scheduled until the end of July.
