Uclear Digital shows three new Pulse drop-in helmet speakers that can be used with almost all their existing intercom systems, as well as with smartphones. Pulse, Pulse Plus and Pulse Pro are engineered to be an upgrade that is accessible to all riders, providing a boost in audio quality without leaving a burning hole in the wallet.
From the Pulse HD that sets you back only $40 (€35) to the Pulse Plus that costs you $50 (€44) and to the high-end, $70 (€61), these drop-in speakers are said to be some of the best-sounding add-ons to a helmet intercom system, at least for this amount of money.

While the Pulse HD is a plain set of two speakers with a quarter-inch stereo jack, they provide full range, 20 Hz - 20 kHz frequency response, and this is quite a neat feature for such a product. The gold-plated stereo mini jack will fit most helmet communication systems, as well as smartphones or audio players, and thanks to their 40mm driver design, they will also be easy to install in pretty much any helmet.

The Pulse Plus delivers audio with an even more musical character, Uclear says, while adding a glove-friendly in-line controller and a built-in microphone. The in-line remote allows riders to adjust the volume, change tracks, mute, or take calls from the smartphone.

Unlike most other similar devices that are engineered with iPhones in mind, the new Uclear Pulse series was designed with Android smartphones in mind. Certain features might not be available for iPhone users, Uclear adds.

Finally, the Pulse Pro comes with dual microphones, one of which "can be custom routed through the helmet for optimal placement allowing for optimal audio clarity." On the connectivity side, the Pro model comes with an Uclear-Digital mini USB jack.

The frequency response is the same, and all three speaker sets boast a whopping 130 dB/m sensitivity that should provide thundering audio regardless of wind noise. For size, the sound pressure level (also measured in decibels) at a casual rock concert ranges between 115 and 125 dB.

So, if better audio inside your helmet is what you're after, you could give Uclear's new Pulse speakers a spin, especially as they're also easy to swap between helmets, thanks to the velcro pads included in the box.
