Pirelli’s “Power is nothing without control” is more of a lesson in life than a motto, as one truck driver in Utah recently found out. David Doop from Santaquin, Utah won a green Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roaster, the big prize of the “Joe Schmo To Lambo” contest organized by Maverick gas stations and
On Saturday afternoon, Dopp received his Bull, which proved to be truly Raging, as he soon found out. He set to take his friends for a couple of rides, but in less than six hours’ time after receiving the keys to the supercar, he lost it on a bend, spun out, hit a curb and ended up off the road. Fortunately, neither Dopp nor a friend, who was riding along, were injured in the crash.

The police report shows that the accident is believed to have been caused by excessive speed, but Dopp insists that he was doing 40-50 in a 35 mph zone, claiming that he thinks he had reached a black ice or gravel-covered area of the road.

According to local publication InSantaquin News, Dopp was covered by full insurance, so, even though we don’t know how bad the car was damaged, he shouldn’t be financially affected by the accident.

Our say: Both the organizers and Dopp should’ve considered a performance driving training course.
