Toyota Yaris Hybrid Teaser Released

Aware of the fact that the most successful hybrid ever, the Prius, is no longer capable of facing the increasing offensive of its competitors, Japanese manufacturer Toyota is getting ready to expand the hybrid offering to more of its models. After presenting at the North American International Auto Show in January a new line of Prius hybrids, a similar version of the popular Yaris is now getting ready to be shown at the Geneva Auto Show in March. Expected to feature the same Hybrid Synergy Drive Toyota is so found of, the hybrid Yaris is rumored to be more fuel efficient than the Prius. Back when the news of a hybrid version of the Yaris surfaced, in 2009, word was that the model will be capable of traveling 40 km on a single liter of gas (2.5 l/100 km or 94 mpg), compared to 38 km/l for the Prius (2.63 l/100km or 89.4 mpg). Design wise, the model is expected to be entirely different from the current version. The front end of the model shown in the teaser here, points to the use of new headlights, who use LEDs, and a completely redesigned bumper. The Yaris hybrid has been confirmed for production at Toyota's Valenciennes plant, the same currently responsible with the manufacturing of the Yaris. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
