In the US, if you want a bit more low priced Scion FR-S, the same automaker offers you the stylish tC, which borrows some of the FR-S styling and fierceness, but comes with some production costs cuts, such as the the fact that it is offered only with front-wheel-drive.
But in Europe or Asia, if you’re looking for a budget coupe under the Toyota GT 86, there is nothing from the automaker that can suit you, apart from a second hand seventh generation Toyota Celica, which still looks good but that dull interior will turn you away quick.
A solution would be that Toyota takes a budget sedan like the Vios, which has a huge success in Malaysia, lower it a bit and cut off two doors. And there you have it - FWD budget Toyota sub-GT 86 coupe.
Or we can wait a bit more, hoping that Toyota will complete it’s 86 family with a smaller coupe, which with some divine help will come out as a rear wheel drive one.
