Toyota UK Recall Customers Satisfied

Toyota’s British division announced today it has managed to fix two thirds of the total vehicles affected in just six weeks, while customers have declared themselves satisfied with the recall procedure. As we previously reported, a survey commissioned by Toyota on 600 owners showed that 96 percent of them were satisfied with their experience of the recall process.

According to official figures released by the manufacturer, there have been about 119,000 vehicles that received the adjustment to avoid the risk of a sticking accelerator pedal so far. This reportedly equals to more than 66 percent of the total number that are subject to the recall.

Moreover, about 6,800 Toyota Prius vehicles have had their braking software fixed, which is about 70 percent of the total number.

Toyota said it is satisfied with the number new car sales since the recall programme was launched. In February 3,439 new Toyota cars were registered, a rise of more than 15 per cent on the same month in 2009.

Toyota also announced earlier this month that its employees at the engine plant at Deeside, North Wales will return to full time working starting April 1. The carmaker is currently preparing the plant for volume manufacturing of its new full hybrid Auris HSD. The car, which will be launched this summer, will be the first hybrid model from any manufacturer to be built in Europe.

Though it has decided to freeze salary levels in 2010, all Toyota employees will receive an additional five days paid holiday to be used during the previously announced non production week and one extra floating day.
