While Forbes recently told us BMW is the most powerful car brand in the world, a recent study released by Millward Brown, begs to differ, showing that Toyota has just taken this crown back from the Germans.
Toyota’s brand value in 2013 reached $24.5 billion (EUR19 billion), a 12 percent increase, with most of the credit going to the hybrid vehicles. As for BMW, this registered a 2013 brand value of $24 billion (EUR18.6 billion), which can be translated into a decrease of 2 percent compared to last year’s figure. In the overall rankings, Toyota grabbed the 23rd spot, while BMW came right behind it at number 24.
Toyota and BMW have been swapping the top place over the last few years. Toyota was given the title each year between 2006 and 2009, as well as in 2011, while BMW received this in 2010 and 2012.
Toyota and BMW were followed by Mercedes-Benz, which saw its brand value leap 11 percent to $18 billion (EUR13.9 billion).
