Ever wandered how fast the staging area, Christmas-tree and attendants are left behind by a properly tuned Toyota Supra at the drag strip?
We were curious too, as most Supra footage recorded at a drag strip shows either the car launching from the start line or the view ahead from in-car or roof/side-mounted cameras.
But we found this one today to satisfy our curiosity, which you can see bellow. It’s pretty scary to see that tremendous acceleration from a rear-view camera.
The Supra depicted in the footage uses the factory cast iron engine block, with billet main caps, pistons and rods. It also has the original stock crankshaft, a Garret GT47-88mm turbo, stock suspension and a 6-speed manual gearbox. Result? 170 mph (273km/h) in just 8 seconds.
See it bellow along with another classic footage from a different run.
