Toyota has finally given us more details, and a launch date for its electric RAV4. It will be revealed today, at the 26th Electric Vehicle Symposium in LA, nearly two years after being announced.
The car features a 154 hp electric motor which has two settings: sport (0-100km/h in 7.0 seconds and a top speed of 160km/h or 100mph) and normal (0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 135km/h or 85mph). Also, thanks to its extremely low drag coefficient of 0.30Cd which is achieved using a few body alterations, the RAV4 EV is the most aerodynamic SUV in the world. All this means that the car is capable of a maximum range of 160km (100miles).
Toyota plans to sell 2,600 of them within the next three years, mainly in the sunny ‘West-Side’ cities and counties at a price of $49,800 (€38,200).
