The fact that the Toyota Prius is the best global hybrid on the market was confirmed yet again, as a GenSent Insights study revealed that our beloved full-size is the most talked about hybrid vehicle online in 2013 so far.
According to our source, the Prius generated no less than $14.5 million in total media value from January through April, surpassing other similar vehicles such as the Honda Fit ($4.5 milion), Chevrolet Volt ($3.1 million) and the Tesla Model S ($3 million).

The GenSent Insights study tracked the value of online media and exposure for 10 different hybrid and electric cars by using proprietary natural language processing technologies on different online venues, such as Facebook, Youtube, Google and Twitter.

For instance, the New York company revealed that Toyota Prius accumulated nearly 86,000 Twitter mentions, while the car’s Facebook page has gathered more than 410,000 likes since its inception.

As of mid-April 2013, Toyota has sold more than 5 million hybrids. The first Toyota hybrid was introduced back in 1997.
