Toyota Motor Europe has announced the 233,336 Toyota and Lexus vehicles shifted during the first quarter represent a 13 percent increase over last year’s results and were ahead of the company’s target. In addition, the Japanese carmaker’s share of the European market has risen to 4.71 percent.
Toyota’s overall monthly sales in March surpassed the 100,000 mark for the first time since March 2009 with increased demand for Toyota’s Aygo, Auris family vehicles, RAV4 and Land Cruiser. The Toyota Verso-S and Lexus CT 200h also made strong debuts in the first quarter of 2011.
“Toyota’s strong sales trend in Europe continues to accelerate in 2011 as market conditions improves across the continent. The Toyota Verso-S and Lexus CT 200h, the latest to join our model line-up, have both been warmly received by customers. The thoughts of every Toyota member in Europe are with the people of Japan through this challenging time. Globally, Toyota and its members have taken on numerous initiatives to support the relief efforts for the March earthquake as well as the reconstruction efforts in Japan,” said Miguel Fonseca, TME Vice President for Sales.
