The fact that Toyota is always friendly with environmentally-conscious drivers is no longer surprising. And, as always, the company is trying to make environmental education fun by introducing all sorts of challenges.
The latest competition to be launched in the United States is the Prius MPG Challenge, which awards drivers that reach the highest overall mpg over a 30-day period. To be eligible to win, the participants, who will borrow a Toyota Prius Plug-in, must drive a minimum of 500 miles total and 75 miles each week.
The driver that achieves highest mpg over the 30-day challenge will win a $2,500 contribution, while the second-placed and third-placed participants will receive $1,000 and $500 respectively. All participating companies will also receive a $200 gas card.
“We see the MPG Challenge as a way to make environmental education fun,” said David Christ, general manager of Toyota’s New York Region. “By tapping regional organizations, we’re able to engage at a local level while demonstrating the Toyota Prius Plug-In’s ability to improve the lives of our fellow community members.”
Charitable organizations in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will benefit contributions totaling $20,000.
