Toyota Labor Federation Pushing for Higher Wages

According to Japanese media, the Toyota Motor Corp labour federation group will push for a unified increase in base wages.
For the first time in five years, the 329,000 members of the All Toyota Workers Unions are planign to ask for higher base salaries next spring. Toyota Japan last raised base pay happened back in 2008 according to the Confederation of Japan Automobile Worker’s Unions.

Toyota Motor Corp president Akio Toyoda said in October that he would consider passing along some of the company’s higher profits to its workers by increasing their pay checks, but added he would wait for the union to ask.

The Japanese Trade Union Confederation called on Tuesday for a 1 percent or more rise in base salary for its member federations and unions.
