Toyota GB Appoints New Commercial Director

This week, the British division of Japanese manufacturer Toyota decided to appoint a new commercial director, in the person of a ten-year Toyota veteran. The new director, Matt Harrison, moves to his new role from Lexus and will take over the position in the first day of the new year.

Harrison has quite an experience in the automotive industry. Prior to joining Toyota in 2000, he was on the payroll of Ford, where he worked for ten years in sales and marketing roles in offices operated by the American manufacturer across the world.

The future commercial director joined Toyota a decade ago, as general manager for vehicle marketing. He was appointed to marketing director in 2003, and two years later became general manager for Corporate Planning. He was appointed general manager of the Sales Planning Division in 2006.

Harrison moved to become director of Lexus Europe in 2008, a position he held ever since. When he moves back to Toyota, he will be replacing Jon Williams, who has been promoted to the position of managing director back in October this year.

“I am looking forward to returning to a frontline sales and marketing role in such an important market. With new model introductions like the Verso S in 2011 and the benefits provided by Toyota’s new five year 100,000 mile manufacturer warranty, I am confident we can regain sales momentum and further strengthen our environmental leadership position," said Harrison, who will be in charge of the Japanese manufacturer's operations in the United Kingdom from next year.
