Rumors about the Toyota FJ Cruiser going out of production have now been confirmed by Toyota. The company used the 2013 SEMA show to announced they’re axing the offroader at the end of the 2014 model year. However, since they were there, they also introduced a swansong, in the form of the 2014 FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Ultimate Edition.
As a hat tip to the iconic Land Cruiser FJ40 of the 60s, the special edition comes dressed in Heritage Blue, a new hue, while using a white front grille surround.
The offroading character is assured by multiple Toyota Racing Development (TRD) bits and pieces. These include TRB Bilstein shock absorbers, TRD race coil springs, a TRD front skid plate, as well as TRD 16-inch bead lock wheels with BF Goodrich A/T KO tires. Of course, the edition is only available in 4x4 form.
There are also a few interior changes, but there are limited, with one example being a leather-finished steering wheel.
The 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Ultimate Edition production is limited to 2,500 units and it’s set to reach US dealerships in February.
