We might be already busy reporting live from Auto Shanghai 2015, but it’s not stopping us from taking a small detour to talk about something else for a second. After all, you guys know that high-end design combined with creativity is always interesting. And that’s exactly what Toyota’s idea of furniture was for last week’s international furniture fair held in Italy.
Toyota’s lifestyle and design branch Boshoku is the member of the Japanese Group to represent the company in Milan, as they presented the “Carsa” concept.

It’s a play on words blending “Car” and “Casa” and is a fusion of automotive interiors with traditional Japanese culture. One of the items on exhibit was an “Otedama Seat,” which is beanbag-style chair that utilizes automotive fabric.

There’s also the popular virtual experience Toyota Boshoku offered in the form of 3D glasses exhibited in a Japanese-style room. The set featured tatami mats and shoji sliding paper screen doors, details that would transform into a car interior once the visitors wold wear the glasses. Apparently, the exhibits will further be showcased at the EXPO Milan which will also be underway in Milan starting May 1 through October 31.

But who is this Toyota Boshoku you ask? Well, it’s the world’s premier interior system suppliers and filter manufacturers. They develop and produce interior components, filtration and powertrain components at over 100 sites in 27 countries around the world. According to Business Wire, during the fiscal period ending in March 2014, Toyota Boshoku had consolidated net sales of 1,218 billion yen (about EUR9.4 billion/ $10.4 billion).
