Harley-Davidson announces hefty hikes in their sales figures for Q3 2013. That is, the worldwide sales of new motorcycles went up 15.5%,with those in the home market increasing with an even stronger 20.1 percent.
It looks like the touring bikes and the new line-up of upgraded motorcycles known as the Project Rushmore bikes drove this growth. It's only a small surprise that the US customers went for these two categories, as we know that H-D fans still function on principles such as "bigger is better", no offense intended.

48,529 new motorcycles have been sold in the US in the third quarter, 20.1% more compared to the 40,402 bikes sold in the same period of the last year. Worldwide dealers sold 70,517 new motorcycles, compared to the 61,053 in Q3 2012.

21,988 new motorcycles have been sold in international markets alone, up 6.5% compared to 20,651 units last year. Regional sales are up 10% in the Asia Pacific region, 1.6% in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region, 15.6% in the Latin America region, and 7.0% in Canada.

H-D officials say the company expects to send out 259,000 to 264,000 units by the end of the year. For more details and math, please check with Dealernews.
