Top 5 Fastest Roads in America Revealed by INRIX

Surprisingly Americans are traveling slower than they did a couple of years ago, according to a company which uses GPS data tracks to find out this sort of stuff. A survey from INRIX revealed that the average speed was about 81 mph (about 130km/h) on America’s top 10 fastest roads, down form 85 mph (about 136km/h) of last year. The firm explained that the lower speeds are to be attributed to rising gas prices and increased traffic enforcement.

The fastest US speeds on highways were clocked on the northbound section of Arizona State Route 79, between Saguaro National Park and Phoenix. The top speed recorded there was 94mph, while the average was of 88 mph (approx. 141km/h). The diminishing speeds are manly attributed to higher gas prices. Driving at lower speeds encourages low fuel consumption. Another drive factor for traveling at lower speeds would be the struggling economy and high unemployment, keeping young drivers off the road.

Also, youth employment tends to rise higher than national norms thus, young motorists are engaging in the riskiest driving behaviors, according to Tom Koza, Oil and Gas Expert at Oil Price Information Service, as saying by cars.com.

The five fastest roads clocked by INRIX were the Arizona State Route with a top speed of 81 mph(about 130km/h). Also, Eastbound MI-5 Michigan Highway Heading into Detroit from the I-275/I-96 interchange to Telegraph Road with 83 mph(about 133km/h) top speed. The California State Route 73 with a maximum speed of 85 mph(approx. 136km/h) and Oklahoma State Highway 33 clocked 87(about 140km/h) mph and the fastest one being Northbound Arizona State Route 79, with 94 mph(about 151km/h).
