Despite starting the 6 Hours of Shanghai from pole position this weekend, Toyota got struck by bad luck once again and forced to make an unscheduled stop, resulting in a second place finish.
Alex Wurz and Nicloas Lapierre started from pole position with their No.7 Toyota TS030 Hybrid and held the advantage while the No.8 sister car drove by Anthony Davidson put heavy pressure on the second place Audi.
Then, in the final third of the race, No. 7 suffered an unlucky rear tire puncture, forcing it to stop again after a recent pit. To make it worse, the No. 8 sister car got a suspension problem and had to retire.
The No. 7 got back in the fight and Alex managed to emerge in the lead, but the unscheduled pit placed the team on second place. Have a look at the race’s resume in the video bellow.
