Time Lapse Video Shows Tesla Model 3 Being Built from Scratch

Car manufacturing is no longer a secret to the general public, as in recent years carmakers have made a habit of showing to all interested how various vehicles are built or assembled. Tesla, the world's biggest electric vehicle maker, is not one of them.
Or at least it wasn't until this past weekend when Elon Musk's company published a time-lapse video showing how a Model 3, this year's EV hot seller, is being assembled.

And it all starts with the empty shell of the car and an enthusiastic wave coming from a highly positive and bearded Tesla employee,

From that point on, as the car moves down the assembly lines, an army of humans and machines get at it, installing wires, cables, the dashboard, the seats, the roof and finally the doors. When everything is in place, a Tesla employee drives the car out of the assembly hall and into the parking lot.

Seeing a Model 3 being assembled, even in a short 50 seconds clip, is a major insight into the manufacturing processes of a company that is overall more secretive than others.

This is the second time in the span of a few months that Tesla gives the world a glimpse into its world. The first time this happened was in August when Elon Musk took technology vlogger Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) of a tour on the premises of the Tesla factory in California.

The video shown this weekend is, as most of Tesla's short videos released this year, without sound, which makes it difficult for us to actually experience the place as we should. Brownlee, however, described the plant as being  “extremely loud, and extremely busy.”

Even the vlogger's more comprehensive coverage of the assembly processes was not enough to comprehensively cover what manufacturing an electric car actually entails, as his clip only showed  about 15 to 20 percent of the processes involved in the manufacturing of the company's two other cars, the Model S and Model X.
