Booth managed to beat NASCAR drivers Tony Stewart and Greg Biffle and will receive from the Home Depot and National Motorsports Press Association $100,000, which will be donated in his name to the Spirit of America Blood Drive.
Booth got nominated for the award for his effort to make MIS' Spirit of America the largest 9-11 blood drive event. Since the Spirit debuted at the MIS in 2002, 6,213 units of blood have been collected. Booth himself has donated blood 146 times, making for some 18 gallons.
"Tim is an exceptional person who has a true passion for giving back to his community, and that is what has made the Spirit of America Blood Drive so successful," American Red Cross Great Lakes planning manager told NASCAR.
"Just to have been nominated is truly a great honor and I am humbled," Booth added. "The reality is this award is not about any one, single nominee or finalist, but rather about donating one's time for a cause that you believe in -- any amount of time and any cause will do."
