Canada is definitely not the kind of place where all people drive around with the national flag on their vehicles. Heck, these guys even held their recent national day without flooding the whole world with pictures of it. Well, apparently we’ve come across one of the exceptions today.
The Volkswagen Bus you see above could be a perfect demonstration of how Canadian hippies travel. It’s worth noting this is not a member of the new-age wrap culture, this is actual red and white paint. For decoration’s sake, it even cover the rust on the lower front wing!
Yes, we know, the hippie movement traces its origins to Greenwhich Village, San Francisco and New York, but Canada has had its own, with the focus point being situated in Kitsilano, Vancouver, as well as in the Yorkville Avenue area in Toronto.
Still, while the hippie subculture didn’t last too much, the VW Bus we have here seems to be doing pretty good. For one thing, most of the chromed ornaments are still in place. The retro van’s practical side is well exploited here. Sure, the fog lights up front are not functional, but those tires will get you out of trouble in you run out of road.
Moreover, the add-on stowage capacity on the roof is always waiting to swallow your extra luggage, while the bicycles on the rack at the rear of the Bus will keep you in shape.
