It must be a terrible time for renderers out there since one of the best in the business just put out this abomination, showcasing what is probably the worst idea for a Porsche ever coined.
Ok, so you might call us snobs for not being more open minded. After all, the world snuffed at Porsche when it released the Cayenne and the Panamera, dubbing them as abominations. On the long term, they proved to be the company’s salvation, and that’s something nobody can deny.
Just looking at the sales chart today, you’ll notice that the 911 is the least sold model and that the new Macan is the best selling car they make in Stuttgart right now. Who would’ve guessed that people actually want the Porsche badge but not with a huge price tag?
It may all be worth the effort but a pick-up truck? This is where even I have to draw the line. The rendering is rather well made but I doubt that if the Zuffenhausen people would ever consider such a car, it would resemble a Mitsubishi L200 that much.
So let’s just leave the looks behind, for a moment. What would be powering this beast? Well, we can’t really say but with the recent turbocharged offensive the 911 builders decided to go with, we’d doubt that we’d be dealing with an atmospheric plant.
Furthermore, we’d go with a diesel for its torque and since the Porsche range is rather limited in this regard, the new 3-liter V6 with 300 HP from the Panamera would make the most sense.
Of course, all of this is just hypothetical and the cabin of this pick-up would probably be the most luxurious in the segment but then again, mud would make it unrecognizable. On the other hand, think about what tuners could do with such a thing... Leather-wrapped bed anyone?
