When you spend almost $100,000 on a car, ideally, you'd want to get the most bang for your buck. This is the case for a 2022 Infiniti Q60 RS owner, but sadly, not for its 1/4-mile rival, the 2023 Lexus LC500, which is $36,000 more expensive. But before handing out trophies and laurels, let's see what happened and why.
Our first contestant is the beloved 2022 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport. For this 1/4-mile drag race, it was packing a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that can deliver 400 hp (405 ps) with 350 lb-ft (474 Nm) of torque.

It's all-wheel drive, has a 7-speed automatic transmission system, and weighs in at 4,043 lbs. or 1,834 kilograms if you're on the metric system. It flew off the shelf along with its $62,000 price tag.

Its confident contestant is also an impressive feat of engineering on wheels. The yellow 2023 Lexus LC500 has a way better-sounding 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8 that can output 471 hp (477 ps) with 398 lb-ft (540 Nm) of torque.

The Lexus is RWD only, comes with a 10-speed automatic gearbox, and it's a bit heavier than the Infinity, weighing in at 4,371 lbs or 1,983 kg. The weight isn't the only thing making this car better friends with gravity. The cost wasn't any lighter either, at 98,000 dollars.

Now that we got the stats and math out of the way let's see what happened on the Canadian tarmac that faithful day.

Before going head-to-head in the drag race, they first went for a few roll races to see the difference between manual and automatic shifting. Especially between an all-wheel drive car and a RWD.

First, they were driving in 2nd gear from 32 mph (50 kph), and while they were all expecting the bigger, more powerful, and more expensive sports car to put on a show, the Infiniti performed much better.

Even Sam from the "Sam CarLegion" YouTube channel, racing in the Lexus LC500, said he was expecting much more out of it.

The second roll race was a repeat of the first one, but they switched from manual to auto, and this time, the LC500 left the Q60 in the rearview mirror.

The third roll had them going from 42 mph (70 kph), and the Infinity won again because, as it turns out, it shifts better in higher gears.

After that, they drag-raced, but nothing changed much for the almost $100,000 Lexus. The final results were in, and the Infitini Q60 RS went from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds, whereas the Lexus got there in 4.7 seconds.

Also, the Q60 finished the 1/4-mile in 12.9 seconds, and the LC500 in 13.4 seconds, half a second later, but $36,000 cheaper.

Technical specs or stats are fine and dandy, but not everything from paper translates the same way on the tarmac.
