An F-150 that is built as a tribute to legendary actor Steve McQueen arrived in Las Vegas for this year’s SEMA. The project is a collaboration between Steeda, RealTruck, and the actor’s son, Chad, and is described as the ultimate adventure companion.
'King of Cool' Steve McQueen was the protagonist of what the film industry still tags as the best car chase movie Bullit. From that moment on, every car chase in every movie that hit theaters was compared to that. Steve McQueen did most of the stunts all throughout the movie.
To honor the moment, Steeda partnered up with Steve McQueen's son, Chad, to build several 2024 Ford Mustang variants. But now, the time has come for the F-150 to pay homage to those Bullit moments.
Why did these firms partner up to build an off-road tribute vehicle to Steve McQueen? Something that only few know about the actor is that he was passionate about off-roading almost just as much as he was enamored of cars and motorcycles.
The McQueen Racing F-150 Off-Road Edition gets several upgrades that make it a head-turner. The list of mods starts with a Cervini’s ram air hood for the continuous supply of fresh air to the engine compartment.
AlphaRex Black Nova Series LED headlights showed up at the front, together with AVS AeroCab Marker Lights and off-road lighting.
The model also got AMP Research power running boards and Husky RVS fender flares. A McQueen Racing graphics package rounds up the looks of the pickup truck.
The list of changes continues on board, where a Katzkin leather interior found room.
The McQueen Racing F-150 Off-Road Edition is not just about looks, but also mechanics. The team installed a six-inch SuperLift lift kit with Bilstein shocks and Brembo brakes with six-piston performance brake calipers. The pickup truck rides on matte black Gauge wheels with 37-inch Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires for the necessary traction off the tarmac.
A Borla S-Type Cat-Back exhaust, with a dramatic growl, is also available. This F-150 comes with 775 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque. These figures were achieved with the integration of the Whipple Supercharger system with the Ford 5.0-liter V8 Coyote engine, linked to a ten-speed automatic transmission.
Customers can purchase the model equipped like this either from Steeda Performance Vehicles or select dealers. The changes come with a starting price of $37,000 on top of the cost of the donor pickup.
The Steeda reps claim that the team left no stone unturned in order to create "the best, most balanced, and exceptional off-road performance package available."
The F-150 tribute vehicle joins the 2024 Ford Mustang FP800S concept package, the Ford Bronco and Ford Ranger Ford Performance Off-Road Vehicle packages at this year's edition of SEMA.
