Starcraft is unquestionably the most famous RTS (real-time strategy) video game ever created. Blizzard struck gold back in March '98 when they first came out with it. It dazzled the entire industry and changed gaming history. One year later, in 1999, Homeworld was released, expanding the RTS genre like nothing else. It was the sci-fi fantasy of every Star Trek nerd that ever lived. The franchise was so stellar (pun intended) that a new one is coming in 2024.
Homeworld was developed initially by Relic Entertainment and published by Sierra Entertainment. The main focus was the war between the Kushan, an exiled people looking for their forgotten homeworld, and the Taiidan Empire, which wanted to obliterate them.

The single-player campaign was made from 16 missions, but it also had a multiplayer mode for those brave enough to go toe-to-toe with other super-nerds.

Sierra's Homeworld won GOTY (Game of the Year) in 2000, which helped it cement its footprints in video game history.

Now, a Remastered Collection is floating around, containing Homeworld Remastered Edition and Homeworld 2 Remastered, with multiplayer and all. However, for those wanting to re-experience their first deep dive into this RTS universe, the Collection also includes the original games in all their glory.

The Remastered versions feature 30 single-player missions. The difference between them and the classic ones is that they support 720p, 1080, and 4K resolutions. The textures and models have also undergone a high-res treatment, making the image on your screen crystal clear.

However, the same polygonal geometry remains, so the ships, characters, planets, and other elements have retained their original shape.

Part of the original "crew" from back in the day worked on the Homeworld Remastered Collection along with hardcore fans to help make the gameplay better than ever.

If you remember the iconic soundtrack, it too was remastered, along with new, high-fidelity voiceovers by the original actors, no less. Getting the OGs after all this time couldn't have been easy, but this proves how much passion went into making this Collection.

Even the cinematics have been recreated in high-fidelity, so the in-game short movies don't look 1,000 years old.

You should be okay with your PC as it is now because the games don't require a 4000 series to run properly. You only need a 2.2Ghz processor with an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS (512MB) or ATI Radeon HD4800 (512MB) GPU for minimum settings.

For the recommended settings, you need a 2.3 GHz Quad Core Processor with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon HD 5850 (1GB VRAM) graphics card.

An essential requirement is Windows Vista (Low) and Windows 7 (Rec.), so if you have W10 or 11 and it doesn't launch or work correctly, try to run it in Compatibility mode with Windows 7.

The offer goes away on August 3, so make sure to add it to your library fast.
