You would imagine that a 1965 Ford Mustang, especially one in the configuration we have here is the type of car that gets looked after. And while this is true for the aficionado who recently rescued the 'Stang, we can't say the same about its former owner.
We're looking at a 1965 Ford Mustang GT Fastback, with these words sounding like magic after so many decades of muscle car evolution. Besides, this an all-original machine.

And there's more: for the said model year, which was almost the first for the Mustang (don't forget those 1964½ cars) you could have the pony with a 200ci inline-six delivering 120 hp or three 289ci V8s: a 200 horsepower two-barrel unit, a 225 hp four-barrel version and, of course, the 271 hp Hi-PO. Well, the unit sitting before us packs some respectable firepower, since it's animated by the said mid-range V8.

Besides, this is said to feature the Pony Interior package, which is believed to have been ordered for just 5 percent of 1965 Mustangs. This includes a wood grain look for the steering wheel and cabin trim, embossed "ponies" on the seat backs, deluxe door panels featuring steel decorations and Pistol Grip handles, special door courtesy lights, as well as a five-dial instrument panel featuring oil pressure and amp meter gauges.

As for how this Blue Oval symbol came to our attention, the car was rescued by a gearhead named Will Hurley, but, since his Instagram account is private, you can check out the post below, which comes from the junkyardclassics label.

Apparently, the Mustang spent a full 38 years in isolation and, as you'll notice in the images showcased via the said post, this was found lying under quite a few items. Oh well, at least we can take a bit of confort in the fact that, unlike other muscle car icons, this was didn't spend its "idling" time outside.
