1958 and 1959 were fantastic years for Chevrolet, mainly thanks to the full-size lineup that propelled the company to the top of the automotive industry in the US.
Models unveiled in the previous years at GM's motor show now entered production, including the Impala and the Biscayne, helping Chevrolet regain the leading spot from rival Ford.

Originally built with fleets in mind, the Biscayne rapidly became an intriguing Impala alternative, carrying a smaller price tag but still sporting similar styling and engine options. It lacked the bells and whistles that made the Impala a genuine head-turning machine, but the Biscayne was a more affordable way to drive a full-size Chevy without spending a small fortune.

The 1959 Biscayne posted on eBay by seller unterpercent3535 is a fantastic example that comes in almost flawless shape. The owner doesn't say anything about a previous restoration, though I'm sure it received a complete overhaul not long ago, with the floors, the trunk pan, and everything else looking beautiful.

The good news is that the floors and the body panels are still original and have never received any patches, mainly thanks to meticulous maintenance. The paint is no longer the original finish, but still looks good – you'll have to inspect it in person, but the shared photos don't reveal any scratches, dents, or spots requiring urgent attention.

The interior is all-original, except the new carpet installed by the previous owner. The original trim, glass, and chrome are still there and sport a flawless shape.

Now, let's talk engines and the secret upgrade received by this car.

The top engine for the 1959 full-size Chevys was the 348, but the VIN reveals this Biscayne rolled off the assembly lines with a six-cylinder engine under the hood. A straight-six unit isn't everybody's cup of tea, and it turns out that a previous owner didn't like it, either. The car has already received an upgrade, so it no longer has the original engine. A 348 is now in charge of propelling the car, being paired with a 4-speed transmission.

The car starts, runs, and drives properly, so this Biscayne won't need anything. It's ready for the road, with a recent tune-up including typical brake, fluid, and drivetrain maintenance to prepare the car for any trip.

The selling price isn't surprising, considering this Biscayne's condition, but it's getting too close to Impala territory. The owner expects to get $52,900 for this Biscayne, but they also enabled the Make Offer button to listen to what others have to say about the selling price. eBay's statistics reveal that nearly 30 people are already watching the listing, but I'm certain the number will grow if the car gets a substantial price drop.

Meanwhile, you can find the Biscayne waiting for inspections in Pittsboro, Indiana.
